Hey you two! GET A ROOM...!

If you need help with finding a cheap hotel near party address:

1309 Hidden Meadow
McKinney TX 75070

Suggested links:

http://www.orbitz.com (look in McKinney TX, of course)

http://travela.priceline.com (ditto the McKinney thing)

You might want to stay south of Hwy 380:
(Best Western McKinney Inn & Suites on White Blvd. on Central Exwy; but there are even less expensive ones between 380/University Blvd and Virginia Pkwy and Central. Party is west of Central)

They may not have high ratings, but some are pretty good price.

Kendrick's Tintypes in Dallas

Robb Kendrick
Tintype Portraits
July 19 to September 9
Afterimage Gallery
The Quadrangle #141, 2800 Routh St., Dallas, Texas
www.afterimagegallery.com
10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday
A reception is set for 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, August 1.

For National Geographic's December 2007 issue, he documented working cowboys, covering 14 Western states, Mexico and Canada. He photographed using a mid-19th Century wet plate technique and printed the results as tintypes. This cumbersome process required him to tow a darkroom trailer behind him for some 40,000 miles, often down very isolated roads.

The show will be online.

His latest book is Still: Cowboys at the Start of the Twenty-First Century (The University of Texas Press). An NPR interview with Kendrick is at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18592716

Kendrick lives in Mexico in San Miguel de Allende with his wife, writer Jeannie Ralston, and their two boys.

Bad Art show from 2006 reunion

At the time of the 2006 reunion, the "Bad Art Show" was going to be offered on CD. Nothing every transpired and no word, no nothing.

Latest ... the show was an iMovie and the jpgs everyone sent in for the show have been deleted. The person in possession of the iMovie is looking to make it a CD/DVD/whatever for sale to support the Photo Society.

HOWEVER, the Bad Art Show organizer assured me that everyone who sent something, sent it by jpeg by e-mail. Soooo, if you still have whatever you sent in, send it to me and I'll post it on our Picasa page to share with others. There were some great shots, such as Larry as Father Guido Sarduci, some nice portraits and some general silliness. Send your pix to teresasmithnewton@gmail.com.

Not just for ET photogs...

Want to be sure that everyone knows that this get-together in McKinney at the Mark&ChristieArmentrout hacienda is not just for ET photogs. We mixed with many a fellow ET citizen at the Showdown, in other classes, at parties and waved to each other on the streets of Commerce! Christie and I (that's Becky) have been discussin' this event for some time and have finally decided, well, it was time, now, August 30, to get the young folk from long ago back together while we are still young folk from today (young as in "the 50s are the new 30s kinda young). Heck, my brain is still 18 (but I know now what I didn't know then, mostly). Follows is the original invite sent by e-mail to those whose addresses were available to me at the time:

Unofficial ET Commerce reunion

(not to get this mixed up with any "official" reunion)

So I must apologize to those folks depending on me to get the word out (and those few who have already seen the word, but are now missing it!) about plans for an upcoming get-it-together; some are calling it "Showdown Saloon Reunion."

Whatever birth rite you give it, Christie Raynes (with an "i" or a "y" just can't remember, even tho she seems to be my best friend!) Armentrout and her hubster Mark and I are sending the invite to come to McKinney, TX, for a look-see of friends from ET days (I suppose, mostly the 70s and long before the Showdown met its demise).

WhatWhenHow?

Party (of course!) in McKinney, TX, at the Armentrout ranch (well, nice house, anyway...with a pool to boot!)
August 30 (yes, that would be Labor Day weekend)
Any way yo can get yo little ole self up, down, or over here!

Down yonder (in this email) is a list of those folks being rounded up through this email. Two lists: 1) with name and email address and 2) with email addresses only (so's you can copy them and communicate with us all, if that be your druther). SORRY, NOT POSTING THE LIST HERE, FOLKS.

There are also a few names listed for those that I have no inkling what might be their address. AGAIN, NOT POSTING LIST HERE.

It has been 2 years since the 2006 "official" reunion. I don't have everyone on the list, cuz I just don't have everyone that should be on the list (at least for the 70s).

We will commence the partying the afternoon of Saturday, August 30, and it would be a delight to see any who can pull themselves away from whatever you think you might need be doin' on Labor Day weekend.

For now, folks, we are lookin' for you to save the date, let us know you're savin' it (for visitin' with us, that is), so's we can get commencin" with the party-hardy plans. Hey...ya gotta come, see what the commotion's about.

Okay, that was it. Responde see vue play (ok, RSVP) to Becky at rlrchorn@verizon.net.

I find it difficult to name this get-it-together cuz I just wanted to get it together and get together with old (oops, young) friends. So call it whatcha want, I'm just goin' to a party.

Glad to see folks are coming on board the blog. Sign in and you can "post" (see New Post at the top right of the window), which shows up on this page, while "comment" is a comment to a specific post. Make sense?

At the bottom of this page is info about the reunion, so scroll down.

Welcome

With the Unofficial '70s Third Floor Reunion coming up Aug. 30 at Christie's in McKinney, I decided we needed a blog.

This is an offshoot of http://picasaweb.google.com/ETSUPhoto70s, where you can see us the way we were and a few of us today. Plus there's some shots from the 2006 reunion. If you have photos from the old days, the new days or somewhere in between, send them to me at teresasmithnewton@gmail.com and I'll post them.
